Well its down to the wire but I am sure we will have a car ready to race in two weeks.
My team has been awesome and has pulled off some major miracles.
What great bunch of guys.
I cant wait till we are at the race and suited up and pulling out on to the course .
Scary but good.
We are going to have so much fun. I have had a blast just getting the car in shape and there is still more fun to be had.
Everyone is talking about how we are going to do this and that for different races. This race is just to break the ice. Then watch out.

The good news
So the other day I got an email from Jeff Baxman the head wrench for team Mach Schnell.
He was sad to inform me that he was not able to race in the up coming Race of Lemons. Due to financial strains.
And did I want his spot on the track.
I just about fell over. I had totally given up on the race after the news from the race promoters.
I email Bob and told him that what had come up.
He asked for contact info for Jeff and Rosie .
The next thing I knew he had set up the money transfer to the promoters(the money had to be in the next day). Bob is a wizard. He totally kicks ass.
I am still in shock.
We are going racing.
Lucky number 50 will be big and bold on the side of "Bunny" the beemer bimbo.
Now we need to hustle and get her ready for racing.
Careful what you dream for...

The bad news
To Jiro Tulley, Captain, Team Team Tread Lightly:
Hi, Team Captain:
I'm sorry to tell you those smug, self-satisfied bastards on the LeMons Selection Committee have REJECTED your application for the May 10-11, 2008, LeMons SF 24 Hours of LeMons at Altamont. I swear, I tried to stop them. They held me down and beat me with broomsticks. Okay, the truth is we had more than twice as many entries as grid spots, so a lot of good teams just had to get bumped. This time yours was one.
But you still might be able to race.
Because we got so many interesting entries, right now AMP is struggling to find us a second 24 Hours of LeMons weekend to follow the 10-11 May race. If they're able to swing it, I'll automatically accept your team into this new race. If you're interested, just reply to this email with "Move My Ass to The New Race" in the subject line and keep your fingers crossed. Mine are.
Whatever you decide, thanks again for your app, and I hope to see you in a race soon. Any questions or comments, drop me a line anytime.
Best &c--J

Thanks to Bob the mighty hunter
We now have a real race car thanks to Bob. He found her on Craigslist 15 minutes after she was posted.
Bob talked to Matt Bell the gentleman racer from Mountain View. And they seemed to hit it off right away.
He emailed me right away and told me that he thought that he found me a car. I was so excited I was checking my email every 2 minutes. Bob kept giving me up dates and telling me the latest news.
We finally got some pics to look at and it looked good. We set up a date for Saturday.
Bob , Matt V and my self drove south for a couple of hours and ended up in a really nice neighborhood in Mountain View. The address for the shop was really hard to figure out. Bob finally spotted the address and a big fancy Beemer that turned out to be Matt Bells car.
Bob called Matt B on his phone and a door opened on to the parking lot and there he was.
We were ushered into what looked like a high end car parts front office.
We were led into the main shop space and my jaw just about hit the floor. There was a late model BMW race car with carbon fiber under ware and the nose taken off with a big hole where the motor would go. Behind us was a 260Z that was waiting for a Chevy 350 transplant.
He walked over to one of three lifts and let down a 87 Golf that had its nose stuffed into the back corner like some naughty child. (She will now be know as Beemer Bimbo or Bunny)
Next to that lift was another one with a Datsun 510 waiting for a 500 horse motor.
I was in shock and just barely able to speak.
We all forgot to take pictures.
I have it all burned into my memory bank. I can print it out if you want a copy.
We poked and prodded her and hemmed and hawed.
We were going to try to get a compression test but we could not get her to turn over. Some one had tried to steal her and pulled out the wiring from the ignition switch.
So we started taking money. He said make me an offer and Matt and Bob looked at each other and said "How about $500".
Matt B said that sounds about right and I will bring it to you.
Wow.
I am still in shock.
The next day I waited till about 11:00 and called Bob. He said I was just going to call Matt B. I will call him and then call you back.
He calls me back and Matt B is on his way and his GPS says he will be there in 2 hrs.
He was there with 2 minutes to spare.
The rest is history.....
Bemmer Bimbo is kicking it in down town Santa Rosa at Matt V's stylish pad.
To be continued.......

The second meeting went well. We discussed the $500 dollar limit and how that can be bent.
I really want to get a car so we can start on some thing.
The rollcage is the big ticket item to round up.
I hope I can come up with that one.
We were missing a couple of members but I think we talked about the important issues.
I really need to talk to the Secrets of Speed boys. The race licenses and the seat and ...........
Hidden costs.
Fire suits and helmets are the other big cost.
One of the team members is worried about the roughness of the first race and wants to do the road course first.
We will see.
I just want a car.
Still no mention of what the hell are we doing.
Good sign.
Wheres the car?

The first driver meeting
We had the first driver meeting and every one wanted to do it.
I am so stoked and amazed that I am floating off the ground.
We looked on Craigslist and saw another VW that would be good to race. The poster has not responded yet.
I like the idea of another VW for many reasons. We have a parts car and anything that we put into it we can use in the other.
Wow. I cant stop thinking about it.
We are going to have another meeting next month. And see how the shopping list has grown.
What a great bunch of friends.
I am truly blessed to have such a great crew.
